U.S. Pays $50k Per Afghan Shooting Spree death Victim

The United States One- handed over a total of $860,000 to the families of those killed or draws blood or injured in Sgt. Robert Bales' shooting rampage: $50,000 for each person killed, and $10,000 for each human being or person wounded. Col. Gary Kolb, spokesperson for NATO's International Security Force, said the money was to help the victims and their families, and not compensation for Bales' actions.

Afghan villagers prays Saturday over the grave of The sixteen victims of a shooting the Panjwai district of Kandahar province south of Kabul, Afghanistan spree linked to U.S. soldier Robert Bales.
“The United States has paid $50,000 in compensation for each Afghan killed and $11,000 for each person wounded in the shooting spree attributed to a U.S. soldier that’s Staff Sgt. Robert Bales, above, in southern Afghanistan.” According to the AP,
The sums, much larger than typical payments made by the U.S. to families of civilians killed in military operations in Afghanistan, come as the U.S. tries to mend relations following the killing rampage that has threatened to undermine the international effort here.

The U.S. has paid compensation for the victims of the massacre in southern Afghanistan attributed to a U.S. soldier.
A U.S. official confirms that there have been payments but would not discuss amounts.
It was not immediately clear if the word used to describe the payment had legal significance in Afghanistan, where "blood money" can replace a trial or punishment of a killer.
The Afghan population is still clamoring to have Bales tried in Afghanistan, but military officials have said he will be tried in the U.S. If convicted of the 17 counts of murder he's charged with, Bales could face the death penalty or punishment.

Dog saves girl from attack by sex offender

A shelter dog is being hailed a hero for saving a Florida girl from an alleged attack by a sex offender.
National Puppy Day it seems all too appropriate that one Florida shelter dog is being lauded for her heroic efforts as woman's best friend.
A shelter dog has been hailed a hero after saving a Florida girl from an alleged attack by a registered sex offender.

The 17-year-old was volunteering for St. Petersburg animal shelter Friends of Strays when she took Mabeline, a Rhodesian ridge back mix, for a walk. When a 17-year-old girl left St. Petersburg's Friends of Strays animal shelter to walk a dog, she never imagined her volunteer work would lead her to be the one in need.
But as the teenager walked down a path behind the building, the attacker allegedly chased her down, grabbed her by her hair and pinned her to the ground, according to WTSP-TV.

"She was a wonderful stray dog who came to us and we were able to place her in a forever home," the shelter's executive director, Beverly Passe, told FoxNews.com. "We have plenty more liked her who needs homes, too."
Bacon has since been arrested and charged with false imprisonment.
Police said Michael Bacon, a registered sex offender, overpowered the girl and she was unable to escape his grip.
Mabeline's new owner, Mary Callahan, told the station that she was unaware of the dog's heroic act when she adopted her. When she learned the back story, she saw Mabeline in a new light.
"I looked at my dog and I thought, 'You are a hero,'" she said.

Modern Computer and Hardware

Computer is a device that computes, especially a programmable electronic machine that performs high-speed mathematical or logical operations or that assembles, stores, correlates, or otherwise processes information. Modern Computer and Hardware

Your PC (Personal Computer) is a system, consisting of many components. Some of those components, like Windows XP, Windows7, Windows 8 and all your other programs, are software. The stuff you can actually see and touch, and would likely break if you threw it out a fifth-story window, is hardware.

A computer is a technique or means, a plan or scheme, especially a malign one that accepts information and manipulates it for some result based on a program or sequence of instructions on how the data is to be processed. Complex computers also include the means for storing data for some necessary duration. A program may be invariable and built into the computer or different programs may be provided to the computer Today's computers have both kinds of programming.

Modern computers inherently follow the ideas of the stored program laid out by John von Neumann in 1945. Essentially, the program is read by the computer one instruction at a time, an operation is performed, and the computer then reads in the next instruction, and so on. Recently, computers and programs have been devised that allow multiple programs to work on the same problem at the same time in parallel. With the advent of the Internet and higher bandwidth data transmission, programs and data that are part of the same overall project can be distributed over a network and embody the Sun Microsystems slogan: "The network is the computer."

Computer Modern is the family of typefaces used by default by the typesetting program Tax. It was created by Donald Knuth with his METAFONT program, and was most recently updated in 1992.

As implied by the name, Computer Modern is a modern font. Modern, or "Didone", fonts have high contrast between thick and thin elements, and their axis of "stress" or thickening is perfectly vertical. Computer Modern, specifically, is based on Monotype Modern 8a, and like its immediate model it has a large x-height relative to the length of ascenders and descanters.

His century against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup took the 38-year-old to 51 Test centuries alongside his 49 one-day international tons.
Here, former team-mates and opponents take stock of Tendulkar's unique achievement.
On whether Sir Donald Bradman or Sachin Tendulkar is the greatest batsman of all-time, former England captain Nasser Hussain gave his vote goes to the iconic Indian.
"Sir Donald Bradman was great, but, for me, the greatest batsman to have ever played the game is Sachin Tendulkar," he said.

Hussain rubbished the recent wave of criticism of the Indian cricket team following their humiliating defeat in England and Australia, saying the sub-continental giants are still a force to reckon with.
"You have Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh. And you -- till recently -- had (Rahul) Dravid," Hussain said, at the India Today Conclave, in Delhi, on Friday.

How Sachin Tendulkar became the Little Master

US woman birth a big baby boy

Cynthia Sigler of Vista holds Jayden, who weighed 13 pounds, 14 ounces when he was born Thursday at Tri-City Medical Center.
A Southern California woman says doctors predicted she would give birth to a big baby boy, but nobody was prepared for just how big.
Jayden Sigler weighed in at 13 pounds, 14 ounces, when the healthy boy was delivered Thursday by cesarean section, the North County Times reported Saturday.

On Friday a California woman gave birth to a baby that weighed in close to 14 pounds. Medical staff at the Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside said they couldn't remember delivering a larger baby.
Cynthia Sigler reportedly knew for months her baby would be a boy. What she didn't know was that he'd be born at astonishing 13-pounds, 14-ounces. His length is 21 inches long.
According to the Guinness Book of Records, the largest baby ever born was 23 pounds, 12 ounces in Canada in 1879. Sadly the baby died within 24-hours of birth. The largest surviving birth was 22 pounds, 8 ounces and was born in Italy in 1955, noted Guinness.
Sigler said her own family didn't believe her at first -- she convinced her cousin it wasn't a joke only after showing a photo of the scale readout.
Jayden's birth weight is almost twice that of his sister, Jailyn, now 2½. She was 7 pounds, 2 ounces at birth.
A hospital official was unable to immediately determine Friday whether Jayden was the largest baby ever delivered there. It was also not clear where the newborn ranks among the largest babies also born in San Diego County.
Sigler said she'll have to exchange all the baby clothes she bought for larger sizes.

Young love lyrics

Artist: Classic Country
Song: Young Love - Sonny James
Album: Classic Country: 1950-1964

They say for every boy and girl,
There's just one love in this old world,
And I, I kn-ow, I, I, I've found mine.
The heavenly touch of your embrace,
Tells me no one will take your place,
A, A, A, A, ever in my heart.

Chorus:
Young love, first love,
Filled with true devotion,
Young love, our love,
We share with deep emotion.

Just one kiss from your sweet lips,
Will tell me that your love is real,
And I, I, I can fe-el that it's true.
We will vow to one another,
There will never be another,
Lo-ve for you, or for me.

Chorus:
Young love, first love,
Filled with true devotion,
Young love, our love,
We share with deep emotion.

Published: Monday, 05 Mar 2012, 6:50 AM MST
Good morning, San Francisco!
A 4.0-magnitude earthquake hit the San Francisco Bay area Monday, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.
The quake hit at 5.33am local time (1:33pm GMT) eight miles (12.9 kilometers) north of San Francisco at an estimated depth of 1.6 miles (2.6 kilometers), the USGS said.
No damage was reported.

Looks like an earthquake just woke everyone up in the San Francisco bay area.
The United States Geological Survey is reporting that it was a 4.3-magnitude earthquake.
As a side note, it looks like we're getting back to the basics of what Twitter is actually best for: live reporting earthquakes in Silicon Valley.
One Twitter user wrote shortly afterward, "All of San Francisco just woke up, tweeted, and are now going back to bed for an hour. Thanks early morning #earthquake."
Another wrote, "Not even my guitar on the wall moved" during the quake.
The shaking from the San Francisco earthquake was felt within a 60-mile radius, from Santa Rosa in the north to Santa Cruz in the south. The epicenter was a mile from East Richmond Heights, two miles from Richmond, four miles from Berkeley and 13 miles from San Francisco City Hall.

Tatum O'Neal rumors denies rumors for cocaine problem

“O’Neal will all-times seek supervisory responsibility or supervision when taking prescription medication that has addictive ability to perform."
Tatum O'Neal's publicist said the U.S. actress is not in rehab to deal with a cocaine problem, contrary to a Radar Online report saying she is.

O'Neal, 48, won an Oscar in 1974 for "Paper Moon." She was a cast member of TV's "Rescue Me" and co-starred with her father, actor Ryan O'Neal, in the reality show "Ryan and Tatum: The O'Neals" last year.
Tatum O'Neal has reportedly checked herself into a rehabilitation facility for her drug problem after rumors surfaced that she relapsed last month.
A source tells Radar Online that the 48-year-old voluntarily sought treatment for her addiction. "Tatum made the decision to voluntarily check into rehab after having a relapse about a month ago when she began using cocaine again."

However, the source expressed concerns regarding the quality of care that is provided at the facility. "Tatum is doing really, really bad at the facility she is at."
Tatum O’Neal has found herself in the middle of the rumor mill this time around. It is rumored that she has gone to rehab for a cocaine addiction. O’Neal completely denies those rumors. The truth of the matter is that O’Neal had back surgery.
Tatum is healing day by day and taking each day as it comes in the rehab facility. She’s being smart about things this time, given her sketchy drug filled past.
Lil Wayne was a no-show on Jimmy Kimmel's show Thursday night; Kimmel figured no problem and proceeded to hire a Weezy impersonator to do the interview, MTV reports. Alas, the impersonator bore little or no resemblance to the original.
No, Kristin Chenoweth was not immune to bullying when she was in high school, she tells Parade. She knows what kids are going through.
Are Lea Michele and Cory Monteith "hooking up," which an Us Weekly source says is a no-brainer? For the love of "Glee," we hope the answer is no.
It's been a good long time since the Ministry of Gossip did a good ol' "Party of No" post, in which we celebrate what's not going on. No way we can let that continue, right? So pull up a chair and the Friday evening beverage of your choice, and let's get this party started.
