Trayvon Martin's mom calls for gun law review

The mother of an unarmed black Florida teen, who’s killing by a neighborhood watch volunteer set off a storm of protests, released a Mother's Day video calling for a review of lax US gun laws.

"Just like me, 30,000 mothers lost their children this year to senseless gun violence,".

"Nobody can bring our children back, but it would bring us comfort if we can help spare other mothers the pain we will feel on Mother's Day and every day for the rest of our lives."

Martin, 17, was shot to death February 26 in Sanford, Florida, by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, who claims he shot the unarmed youth in self-defense.

Fulton called on supporters to lobby against "Stand Your Ground" laws in several US states that allow civilians with weapons to fire if they feel threatened with death or with serious injury.

Local police did not arrest or bring charges against Zimmerman for weeks because of Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law, until public outrage led to an investigation by a special state prosecutor. He was arrested April 11 and charged with second degree murder.

Florida Governor Rick Scott announced the creation of a commission to review the self-defense law.

The daring back drop and leg slit ensured that there was just enough sexiness, but the real treat was getting a zoomed-in look at the dress's crocodile-meets-lizard-skin texture. It was positively exotic, and the slick second-skin effect hugged her every curve. The only other accessory? Black talon-like nails, which she said made the prepping process a lot longer. World Laughter Day’2012

Assuming you're not suffering from anything more serious than hiccups, laughter is - as everybody knows - the best medicine. It's also something that you could be hearing a lot of today. 

Dr Madan Kataria may not have invented laughter (that was, of course, Professor Roger Chuckles in 1924), but he did bring us Laughter Yoga, the movement that encourages unconditional chortling for physiological and psychological benefits, and with it World Laughter Day.Traditionally held on the first Sunday in May each year, WLD has aimed to bring "World Peace Through Laughter" since 1998. 

In that time, 6,000 "Laughter Clubs" have reportedly opened across the world and now, according to Snigger-Master General Kataria, 70 countries will be celebrating the event, which should see thousands break out into unprovoked fits of giggles.

Indian state of Bihar ejects French tourists 'for Maoist ties'

Nine French tourists have been ejected from the eastern Indian state of Bihar for their alleged involvement in Maoist activities, police officials said.

The group was detained in the remote Nawada region known to be a Maoist stronghold in the state.

Police said they had violated visa regulations after they were found to be working with a group alleged to be a front for Maoist rebels.

The nine French nationals have not yet commented on the allegations.

A tourist visa rule specifically prohibits any socio-political activities in the country. 

"The group has been sent to the eastern city of Calcutta, from where they will go to the capital New Delhi," said SL Das, the superintendent of police in Bihar.

It is unclear if they will be deported from India, but correspondents say this is likely.

The police became suspicious of the French tourists because they were working in Nawada with Unity Forum, the group alleged to be a Maoist rebel front.

Unity Forum says it is simply working to protect the land and water rights of the poor, according to the Associated Press news agency

Maoist rebels have been described as the country's most serious internal security threat by India's prime minister.

The rebels say they are fighting for the rights of indigenous tribal people and the rural poor and have a strong presence in large parts of the eastern states of India.
